Pokemon Legends: Z-A is only a few weeks away from its October 16 release date, and fans are eagerly speculating and hoping for any new information about the new Mega Evolutions that will be debuting. Several Mega Evolutions have been revealed already, from the acid-filled Mega Victreebel to the colorful Mega Malamar. A recent leak seems to have revealed the design of Mega Dragalge, another new Mega Evolution coming to Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and the cursed design is already making waves in the fandom.
Mega Dragalge Seems To Feature "Screaming Seaweed Souls"
Dragalge, the Mock Kelp Pokemon, is the Poison/Dragon-type evolution of Skrelp, a seahorse-like Pokemon introduced in the original Pokemon X and Y. Its already a fairly sinister Pokemon. Dragalge’s description in the PokeDex mentions that it hides in kelp and uses a powerful, liquifying poison to attack its prey — which includes tanker ships, as its poison is strong enough to melt metal.
But Mega Dragalge’s design, which was shared by Centro Leaks on X, formerly Twitter, takes things a step further. The Pokemon now features what seems to be two humanoid bodies, made from kelp or seaweed, seated on its head. The “bodies” have their “hands” raised in the air and are perpetually screaming, with their mouths open wide. What exactly are these two seaweed creatures? Are they Dragalge’s prey? Were they once human, or another type of Pokemon? Are they sentient somehow, trapped in their eternal suffering atop Mega Dragalge’s head? Nobody is sure — although, hopefully, Mega Dragalge’s Pokedex entry in Legends: Z-A will reveal more information.
Other than the two screaming “ghosts” atop Dragalge’s head — perhaps, if they really are ghosts, its Mega version will swap Poison for the Ghost type — the rest of the design is far less cursed. However, there are a few other bizarre elements, particularly the slender “feet” made from kelp and the large, purple crest on the Pokemon’s head.
Fan Reaction To Mega Dragalge Has Been Intense
The post from CentroLeaks quickly accrued a number of fan responses, both positive and negative in nature. Some felt that the figures on Mega Dragalge’s head were goofy, comparing them to the inflatable “dancing” figures that are often used to advertise at locations such as car dealerships. Others praised the design, saying it resembled a Kirby and the Forgotten Land enemy or the monster form of Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village. Still others questioned the leak’s veracity, feeling that the Mega Dragalge design felt fan-made rather than something created by Game Freak.
Centro Leaks have shared other purported unrevealed Mega Evolution designs for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, including Mega Feraligatr. Whether or not these leaks are accurate, it is likely that there are still several Mega Evolution designs appearing in Pokemon Legends: Z-A that have not yet been revealed. Other Pokemon theorized by fans to be receiving Mega Evolutions in the game include Chandelure, Falinks, and Zygarde, which is likely to play a major role in Legends Z:A’s story — possibly as a collection quest similar to the Spiritomb Wisps in Legends Arceus.
It remains to be seen whether the leaked Mega Dragalge design is indeed accurate, although Centro Leaks has been a reliable source in the past. However, if it is, one thing is certain: it’s a new and terrifying take on Dragalge, implying that the Pokemon is somehow able to gain possession of screaming kelp ghosts that then become attached to its body. How Mega Dragalge will fare in battle, and exactly what function these “screaming kelp men” perform, will likely be a topic of significant speculation over the next several weeks, as fans eagerly wait for Pokemon Legends: Z-A to officially release and reveal all new Mega Evolutions coming to the game.
